Methodology for Calculating Oil Savings

The following outlines the methodology for calculating oil savings given the data from the Burner Booster site assuming all obligations are met as outline in the attached proposal.

Data Needed:

1.       Gallons of oil used before installation of the Burner Booster over a given period

2.       Gallons of oil used after installation of the Burner Booster over a given period

3.       Average degree days before installation of the Burner Booster over the same given period oil was used*

4.       Average degree days after installation of the Burner Booster over the same given period oil was used*

Calculation:

1.       Divide Gallons of oil used over given time period before installation by the same period of time oil was used = average gallons of oil used before installation

2.       Divide Gallons of oil used over given time period after installation by the same time period oil was used = average gallons of oil used after installation

3.       Subtract average gallons used before installation by average gallons used after installation = net average gallons used

4.       Divide net average gallons used by average gallons used before installation = % oil used

5.       Subtract average degree days from given time period before installation by average degree days from given time period after installation = change in average degree days

6.       Divide change in average degree days by average degree days from given time period before installation = % change in average degree days

7.       Adjust oil savings % by % change in average degree days (if % change in average degree days is positive, then reduce oil savings % by that %; if % change in average degree days is negative, then increase oil savings by that %)

Example:

Data:

1.       7,164 gallons used before installation over a 100 day period

2.       4,591 gallons used after installation over a 86 day period

3.       32 average degree days during before installation time period

4.       29 average degree days during after installation time period

Calculation:

1.       7,164 / 100 days = 71.64 gallons per day

2.       4,591 / 86 days = 53.45 gallons per day

3.       71.62 – 52.54 = 18.19

4.       18.19 / 71.64 = 25.4% oil savings (before any adjustments)

5.       32 – 29 = 3 average degree days

6.       3 / 32 = 9.4% (positive, so decrease oil savings %)

7.       34% x 9.4% = 3.2%

8.       25.4% – 3.2% = 22.2% oil savings (after adjustments)

*Note: Average heating degree days can be obtained from a variety of site (i.e. http://www.wunderground.com/history/)

Thank you Joe for the work, trust and the great review. We appreciate it!

Hi Brian/Steve,

Your guys did a great job over here the new system looks nice, very clean work.  Your installer told me you have the paperwork needed for the rebates on the boiler and tank through the fed, state and utilities.  Could you e-mail me the forms and let me know what ones I qualify for, anything I can get back will help considerably, I have a $15,000 metal roof to put on the house in April and $10,000 of that went to the boiler.

Thanks guys,

Joe Moro

Thank You Dr. Sam Sanzone for your work and your testimonial!

Good Morning, Steve -

This is just a quick note of thanks to you and your team for ‘rescuing’

me and my team yesterday.  When I arrived in my office at 6:40AM and found that it was 48degrees F – I wasted no time in calling your office to get some help.  Brian was prompt in addressing my concerns and assuring me that Mike, the electrician who had assisted w/ the installation of the new system about 2 months prior would be right over.  Mike showed up on time – and really took his time to figure out what the exact root of the problem was.  We were getting warmth by 9:30

- 10AM.  We have had several issues with this system since it had been installed but always thought they were based on the proper programming of the thermostat, George was even out here last week to assist us with that – apparently there was more to it, and I am grateful that Mike figured it out.  I thought it was important to let you know how pleased I was w/ the level of service we received from your company.

Sincerely, Dr. Sam Sanzone
